Shiela Webber blogs about the Eduserv Foundation Symposium 2007 Virtual worlds, real learning? event in a recent post, with part of the events being held in Second Life.
I'm a member of second life, and had a look around, though without interacting much with other members.
I did this with a view to assessing if it would be a useful tool for education and libraries in general.
I'm usually very positive about new technology and like to attempt imaginative thinking regarding potential application of such technology.
However, I have to say that in this regard, Second Life looks like a gimmick at present.
When librarians have got the hang of blogs and wikis, I'll maybe think about it. In fact, when we feel confident and proud in the real world, I'd be more inclined to hit the frontiers of virtual reality.
