ETNA

Most Scottish college libraries should have recieved a copy of the ETNA report, compiled by JISC Regional Support Centres. It's of great interest to anyone involved in learning, teaching or libraries.
If you haven't seen it, you can download a copy HERE.

Lifelong Learning UK consultation event

Lifelong Learning UK are in the process of working on the development of new National Occupational Standards for the libraries, archives and information services workforce and is offering the opportunity for interested professionals to participate in a consultation. The Glasgow event will be held on 24th May 2007.

An oldie, but a goodie

Slainte have on their website The Gateway to Scottish Authors which is an HTML version of the Scottish Library Association publication "Discovering Scottish Writers". This lists authors names and links to biographical information about them. There is also a timeline with links to the same information if you prefer to see how these writers lives overlapped.

Dewey Decimal Classification

"Do we really know Dewey" is a site which is aimed at schoolchildren, but provides such an engaging look at a usually dry subject that I think Librarians of all ages will be entertained by the content. A special mention goes out to "Dewey and the Alien".

CIA factbook

The CIA factbook has to be one of my favourite free internet resources. After selecting the country you want to look at, you have access to information on the geography, government and politics and much more of that nation. It has very detailed information on every nation and is well worth looking at.

Internet resources - Infomine

Infomine is a virtual library of Internet resources relevant to faculty, students, and research staff at university level. It covers most subject areas, and directs users to both free and subscription resources, a bit like google scholar.
